Prayers can Lead to Miracles

One of my favorite hymns begins like this, "Prayer is the soul's sincere desire, uttered or unexpressed". The hymn describes prayer as a fundamental expression of the soul, whether it's outwardly spoken or if it is an inward longing. We are expecting to see and witness lots of miracles in Ghana. We have already had a few small miracles that have helped us receive our call and get us on our way to Ghana. The most recent miracle happened yesterday. My wife, Jill, received a call from her dermatologist with the news that a biopsy of a precancerous lesion needed to be surgically removed. The earliest it could be done would be June 2nd, the day we are reporting to the MTC in Provo, Utah. In addition, after the procedure would be done, the Doctor would want Jill to come back in two weeks to make sure it was healing properly. This is something that was not doable. We could not possibly change our mission plans with all the arrangements, the training, and flights that had been done. And we certainly did not want the missionary department to know because Jill decided she was going no matter what and we would deal with the lesion later or continue to pray and have the faith that all would be well. In the meantime, I sent a text to all of my children, their spouses, and a few of the older grandkids asking them to say a prayer for Mom / Grandma. They all did....maybe 25 of them. When Jill went to the doctor the next day to get the pathology report for the possibility of finding another doctor, she was literally standing at the front desk with the scheduler saying they would have to put her on a waiting list.....there was nothing they could do. Just then, from another call, she heard the words, "You need to cancel?" This was the miracle. Another person cancelled their appointment, which made room now for the Doctor to schedule Jill for the procedure to be done the next day. Miracles happen. Prayers are answered. We know that sometimes prayers may not be answered how we would like.....but they are answered. They certainly were for us this day.

Miracles are around us every day! We will be praying for you!!!
